CNC ROTARY TABLE
Four sizes of rotary machines are available as a standard product line. Each size machine is available with multiple options such as quantity and type of axes needed for the application. Multiple shot delivery systems such as continuous direct pressure, alternating direct pressure and gravity feed suction are optional. The CNC controls allow for any part to be quickly processed without the need for long set up times. As long as the part will fit into the machine the motion control can use its axes motion to peen or blast the area of part desired
CNC machines offer exact and repeatable nozzle position for exceptional control of peening and blasting processes. CNC is the flexible method of peening or blasting a wide range of parts. Using motion control allows the user to reduce the costly setup time of nozzles. It also allows for a total coverage of the parts using less compressed air. Time cycles are normally much reduced because no unwanted over peening/blasting is done. CNC shot peening offers precise nozzle‐to‐part motion control that allows for the correct shot peening and blasting intensity throughout the part.

The correct intensity will allow easy Almen strip saturation verification. Controllers are off‐the‐shelf and use industry-wide G code commands. The controller’s service life is measured in decades. Controlled Intelligent Motion Computer Alarm Parameters (CIMCAP) is available as an option on all of our CNC equipment. Our PC‐based passive computer program allows a novice to learn how to quickly program the CNC system.

A simple click on a specific CIMCAP icon and the program will write the G code line for the programmer. CIMCAP is also used for process monitoring and alarm management

Innovative Peening Systems offers custom machinery when our standard machines do not fit the customer application. IPS uses standard proven components to manufacture custom sized shot peening and blasting machinery per the customer requirements. Our CNC motion system allows the customer to process any shape and size part. This system offers consistent accuracy and part recipe programming. Custom part enclosures allows for special part size and part handling. Axis combination and controller types are customer choices, multiple motion axis configurations will meet the custom demands. The motion control system of the machine will consist of a Fanuc CNC controller. Motion programs are created by jogging the axes with the pendant and pressing the insert button on the CNC keyboard. CIMCAP monitoring system is designed for both the operator and the process engineer. Each CIMCAP system is fully configured for it’s specific application. Extensive context sensitive help and intuitive Windows based controls make using the CIMCAP system operator friendly. CIMCAP also allows for easy programming by using mouse click commands that write CNC G code. For example, the programmer can change the air pressure by clicking on the CIMCAP air pressure button then entering the new pressure. CIMCAP will write and enter the proper code into the part program. These quick programming buttons include, but are not limited to; dwell, axis speed, part rotation speed, air pressure, shot flow and other key parameters.

DISCOVER ​THE FEATURE
These highly automated machines offer customers a high‐production rate for parts that are similar in size. The operator loads a fixture while a part is processed inside the cabinet. The parts rotate in front of a series of nozzles that can be mounted on a combination of axis motions. After the cycle time is over, the doors open and the main table indexes exposing the finished part to an operator for unloading/loading. The system design with integrated components thus reducing floor space. The CNC part rotation is a variable speed direct drive system that monitors speed and rotation. This direct drive rotation eliminates the need for bearings and pulleys in the peening/blasting strike zones thus cutting down on wear items. The nozzle motion system is also CNC controlled providing for quick and accurate processing. The media delivery system can be either gravity assisted suction, direct pressure or continuous direct pressure. The shot recovery system includes a cyclone reclaim, rigid urethane shot recovery duct, screen classifier and an automatic reverse pulse cartridge dust collection with steel ducting and fan silencer for clean quiet operation. The nozzle motion can be either stationary, vertical, or multi axis including nozzle tilt and yaw. Motion programs are controlled by CNC processor. In addition IPS offers our CIMCAP process monitoring software designed for peening and blasting operations. Process parameters such as airflow, air pressure, recovery system and machine interlocks are constantly being monitored. If any of the process parameters fall outside of the acceptable limits the machine will automatically interrupt the peening process and alert the machine operator that a fault condition has occurred with all error information displayed. CIMCAP monitoring system is designed for both the operator and the process engineer. Each CIMCAP system is fully configured for it’s specific application. ROBOT MOTION 
Articulating arm robotics can be added to the interior or exterior of all IPS machines. Normally this type of robotic motion is specific to an application, such as plastic media blasting, or a specific motion that a CNC-gantry robot cannot provide. Articulating arm robots are historically cheaper than CNC-gantry robots, but can be more expensive to repair should wear occur inside the enclosure. Articulating arm robots also require larger enclosure sizes to accommodate the robot motion. The main benefit of an articulating arm robot motion is speed and reach. Systems can also be integrated with other loading robots and multi systems tasking.

Robotic articulating arm machines offer users a fast nozzle motion for larger parts that need quick cycle timers. Customers may choose the robot of choice. Another benefit to some customers is the familiarity of robot programming. Machine enclosures are custom built to allow the robotic arm to fully move to peen or blast the users part.

Coatings
IPS applies a coating specially formulated for protecting ferrous alloys from high-temperature heat oxidation. In addition, the coatings give sacrificial (cathodic) protection to the base metal.

Because of its high temperature capabilities, our coating provides excellent protection when exposed to cyclic high-temperature and corrosive salt environments. The coating gives sacrificial properties at temperatures to 1150°F.

We use a ceramic coating that combines thermal stability, excellent adhesion and hardness, along with good flexibility. As mentioned above, it offers salt corrosive protection to 1150°F. At about 1200°F, the aluminum oxidizes to a point where it no longer provides its excellent sacrificial properties, however, it will continue to offer excellent heat oxidation continuously to 1600°F.

In some cases, depending on metal substrate, it has given heat oxidation protection to 2200°F. Tests have been conducted using low carbon steel alloys. There was no loss of weight after several weeks of continuous exposure at 1000°F. After exposure to 5% salt spray for 1000 hours, there was no evidence of corrosion. Further, the coating-formed composition offers superb thermal shock resistance. The coated metal will not crack, spall, or fail after shocking from 1100°F to room temperature repeatedly.
